Second Conditional

¿Cuándo usar el Second Conditional?

El Second Conditional se usa para hablar de situaciones hipotéticas, improbables o imaginarias en el presente o futuro.

Estructura:

Forma Estructura Ejemplo
Afirmativa If + Past Simple, would + infinitivo If I won the lottery, I would travel around the world
Negativa If + Past Simple, wouldn't + infinitivo If I won the lottery, I wouldn't work anymore
Interrogativa Would + sujeto + infinitivo + if + Past Simple? Would you travel if you won the lottery?

Usos principales:

Situaciones improbables

If I were you, I would study more

If I had more time, I would learn Spanish

If she called me, I would answer

Consejos hipotéticos

Were vs Was con "I" y "he/she/it":

En conditional, siempre usamos "were"

(NO: If I was taller...)

If he were here, he would help us

(NO: If he was here...)

Second vs First Conditional:

First Conditional (posible)

If it rains tomorrow,
I will stay home

(Puede suceder)

Second Conditional (improbable)

If it rained every day,
I would stay home

(Muy improbable)
