Second Conditional
¿Cuándo usar el Second Conditional?
El Second Conditional se usa para hablar de situaciones hipotéticas, improbables o imaginarias en el presente o futuro.
Estructura:
| Forma | Estructura | Ejemplo |
|---|---|---|
| Afirmativa | If + Past Simple, would + infinitivo | If I won the lottery, I would travel around the world |
| Negativa | If + Past Simple, wouldn't + infinitivo | If I won the lottery, I wouldn't work anymore |
| Interrogativa | Would + sujeto + infinitivo + if + Past Simple? | Would you travel if you won the lottery? |
Usos principales:
Situaciones improbables
If I were you, I would study more
If I had more time, I would learn Spanish
If she called me, I would answer
Consejos hipotéticos
If I were rich, I would buy a yacht
If you exercised more, you would be healthier
If we left now, we would arrive early
Were vs Was con "I" y "he/she/it":
En conditional, siempre usamos "were"
If I were taller, I would play basketball
(NO: If I was taller...)
If he were here, he would help us
(NO: If he was here...)
Second vs First Conditional:
First Conditional (posible)
If it rains tomorrow,
I will stay home
(Puede suceder)
Second Conditional (improbable)
If it rained every day,
I would stay home
(Muy improbable)
Expresiones con Second Conditional:
If I were you...
If I were you, I would study more
If I were you, I wouldn't do that
If I were you, I would travel more
Imaginando situaciones
What would you do if you won the lottery?
Where would you live if you could choose?
What would you eat if you were hungry?
