Inversion en Inglés: Guía con Ejemplos

¿Qué es la inversión?

Consiste en colocar el auxiliar antes del sujeto en oraciones afirmativas para lograr énfasis o estilo formal.

Publicidad

Inversión tras adverbios negativos

Never / Rarely / Seldom

Never have I seen such a thing

Seldom do we get this chance

Rarely has she been so happy

Hardly / Scarcely / Barely

Hardly had I arrived when it started to rain

Scarcely had we started when they left

Barely had she finished when the phone rang

Inversión con Only + time/way

Only after / Only when / Only if

Only after I called did he answer

Only when I left did I realize

Only if you study will you pass

Inversión con So / Neither / Nor

Acuerdo afirmativo

I love coffee. So do I

She can swim. So can he

Acuerdo negativo

I don't like tea. Neither do I

She can't drive. Nor can he

Práctica: Inversión

1. Never _____ (I / see) such a view.

2. Hardly _____ (we / start) when it began to rain.

3. Only after I called _____ (he / reply).

4. I can play guitar. So _____ (I).

5. She doesn't drive. Neither _____ (he).

💡 Consejos importantes

  • Tras adverbios negativos (never, hardly...) invierte sujeto y auxiliar
  • Only + time/condition también provoca inversión
  • So/Neither/Nor para expresar acuerdo con inversión
  • Usa auxiliar correcto: do/does/did, have/has/had, modal

🎯 Regla clave

La inversión mueve el auxiliar delante del sujeto para dar énfasis o cumplir reglas tras adverbios negativos y expresiones con only.
